The festival is from March 12-24, 2013, and the festival’s theme is water, and Africa.

See breathtaking films that educates and enlightens people about our planet.

190 documentary, narrative animated, archival, experimental, and children’s films will be screened, during the festival,

Explore our planet through the lens of 196 filmmakers and environmentalists, at 75 venues throughout the metropolitan area.

Most screenings including discussions are free, but check to see if reservations are required.

Here is another great film festival happening in Washington DC.

If you are looking for something to do, you can check out “The Washington Jewish Film Festival” .

The 23rd Annual Jewish Film Festival will run from January 3-13, 2013 with 55 films at 14 different venues . Fifteen countries are represented throughout the festival including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, Nigeria, Luxembourg, Poland, Russia, Serbia, the U.K. and the U.S.

More than 30 filmmaker guests are expected to attend.

Attention DC area film buffs, another film festival, is happening in the DC metropolitan area,

The 6th Annual Alexandria film festival is November 16-18, 2012 in Alexandria Virginia. The film festival highlights  films from local, national, and International filmmakers.

You will see different film genres, including shorts, features, animation, and documentaries.

Films will be shown in various locations in Alexandria, including the US Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), Cherry Blossom boat, and the Charles Beatley Library.

2012 DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competition

Another great festival hits DC this week.

 

The 2012 DC Shorts Film Festival and Screenplay Competition is from September 6-16, 2012, in Washington DC.

 

The festival has the largest collection of short films in the country; during competition week (September 6-8) you will see 140 films from 27 different nations, in 18 unique 90 minute showcases, followed by question and answer sessions from the filmmakers.

 

From (September 15th and 16th), check out the “Best of DC Shorts” from the competition.

 

 

There will also be several selected screenings that is FREE, and open to the public. Tickets are required, and may be reserved online at dcshorts.com.

Attention visitors and DC metro area residents, if you are looking for something fun and free to do after touring the city or working all day why not spend the evening  seeing a great film for free.

 

2012 NoMa Summer Screen begins May 23 and runs every Wednesday (rain or shine) until August 8th from 7 to 11pm.

 

This years movie theme relates to end of the world scenarios marking the end of the world according to the Mayan calendar.

 

There will be plenty of things to happening before the movie begins including music, freebies, food trucks, and plenty of fun for families.

 

If you want to see a good film then pack a snack, and bring your blanket or lawn chair, to Loree Grand Field located at Second and L Streets NE.

 

The best way to get there is by bus or metro since parking is limited. New York Ave is the closest stop on the redline.

Attention Film Enthusiasts,

The 26th Annual Washington DC International Film Festival is happening April 12-22, 2012.

This year Filmfest DC, focuses on comedies from France, Argentina, Italy, and Japan. Films from Jamaica, Trinidad &Tobago, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic will also make their debut in the Nations Capitol,  “Marley”, a documentary that focuses on the life of the reggae star will be featured at filmfest DC, as well as “Calypso Rose”, and RasTa” A Souls Journey, featuring Bob Marley’s granddaughter will have their American premieres at the festival.

FREE EVENTS

Personal Connections to Public Stories: From Idea to Projection

Taking place at Busboys & Poets on 5th and K Streets, NW, this panel discussion will explore the variety of relationships that filmmakers have to the subject or topic of their films. Doors open at 10:00am on Saturday, April 14, and the panel discussion begins at 10:30am

 

Screenings at the National Gallery of Art

Presented in association with the centennial celebration of the 1912 Japanese

gift of cherry trees to Washington, DC, the following Japanese films will screen:

Hanezu: Sunday, April 22, 4:30pm

Late Spring: Saturday, April 21, 2:30pm

Sansho the Bailiff: Sunday, April 15, 4:00pm

 

General admission for most films is $11.
