2012 Cherry Blossoms Bloom Early

early blooms 1024x768 2012 Cherry Blossoms Bloom Early

OK everyone,

I have some good news, and some bad news.

The good news is that we’ve had some amazing weather in Washington DC, the birds are chirping, bees are buzzing and Spring is definitely in the air.

The bad news is that because of the great weather, peak bloom for the cherry blossoms will begin a week early, starting March 18th instead of March 24th so, if you made plans to be in town to see the blossoms, you might not get to see them, there will still be plenty of cheap and free things to do in the Nations Capitol even though the blossoms are not around, you will still have fun exploring the city.

If you live near the DC metro area you can take a day trip to see the blossoms, memorials, and monuments, don’t forget to bring your camera because the blossoms are beautiful along the Tidal Basin and National Mall.

If you miss the blossoms, don’t worry there will be plenty of amazing videos and pictures online, it won’t be the same as seeing them in person but you can still see the beauty of the cherry blossoms in Washington DC.

A Day in DC

A Day in DC A Day in DC

You are in Washington DC, for a day, where do you go, and what do you see?

Since you don’t have much time on your side, you need to decide what tourist attractions you are going to see, you could visit fewer sites, so you can have more time to spend at the places you choose to visit, instead of rushing to see everything which is IMPOSSIBLE.

You should see just enough to make you want to come back to DC, for more than just a day.

If you want to get great photos of your day trip, you can start by taking some pictures in front of the Capitol, and then head over to some of the monuments, memorials, and of course the White House.

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes because you will be doing plenty of walking around the National Mall and Tidal Basin.

If you like museums, then you can spend the day touring two or three of the great Smithsonian Museums, there are 19 museums, and it will take at least two or three hours to explore just one museum, so choose the ones that you are really interested in seeing, and save the others for your next visit.

You can also participate in one of the many DC tours or activities A Day in DC that leaves from Union Station, to get a quick overview of the Nations Capitol.

To save time, grab a quick bite to eat at one of the hotdog stands, and if you are lucky enough to spot one of the great food trucks roaming around you are definitely in for a delicious lunch.

So, whatever you decide to do during your brief visit, be sure to immerse yourself in the history of the city, have fun, tell your friends and family about your amazing visit, and definitely come back for more than just a day in DC.
